The Yorkshire Mountaineering Club
The Club was formed in 1941 and until 1952 was known as the Junior Mountaineering Club of Yorkshire (JMCY).
Membership of the YMC is open to anyone with an active interest in the outdoors. Members interests cover all aspects of the mountaineering sport, including walking, running, cycling, rock climbing, ice climbing and skiing.
Meets
The club meets somewhere in the UK on most weekends for walking and climbing and at local outcrops and climbing walls midweek. The Club also arranges other social events through the year.
Guidebooks
The club publishes the definitive guidebooks to rock climbing on Yorkshire Gritstone and Yorkshire Limestone.
Hut
The Club owns a property in the Coppermines Valley above Coniston in the Lake District. It is available for members to use at any time. It is also available for outside groups of 5 to 20 people to book.
