Limited Company Status

In 2006, to enable the Club to benefit from certain tax advantages, the YMC applied for, and became a Limited Company under the Industrial and Provident Act of 1965. As a requirement of this change of status it was necessary to produce a set of Company Rules for approval by the FSA. (The Company Rules now replace the Constitution.)

Annual General Meeting

The Club holds its AGM on the third Thursday in March of each year.

Officials

Committee. The Club elects 7 of its 9 Executive Officers and 5 Committee Members at each AGM. A President is elected to office for a term of 4 years during which time (s)he acts as Vice-President (or President-Elect) during the first 2 years and then replaces the current President at the end of the 2nd year. The Executive Officers and Committee Members meet every two months at committee meetings.

Nominations. Members of the Club may nominate other Members who are willing to stand for election, by obtaining each nominee's prior consent and sending the Club Secretary a signed copy of the nomination form by the 15th of January. Each Member may nominate one Member for each post plus one Committee Member.

  • Login to the Members Area to get a Nomination Form.

Appointments. The committee appoints Non-Executive Officers as required.

Meets List

Meets Secretary. The years programme is organised by the Meets Secretary. This is normally done by calling an open meeting to enable those members who wish to participate in drawing up the following years venues to make their contribution.

Meet Co-ordinators. A co-ordinator is appointed for every weekend meeting. Their responsibilities include providing information to enquirers and taking bookings where necessary prior to the meeting, organising a route for walking meets and providing a report of the meet to the Newsletter Editor.

Booking Policy. To provide a fair means of allocating places on meets which have a restricted number of places available, the Club has a meets booking policy.

Guidebook Production

Production of YMC Guidebooks is an ongoing process of information collection, culminating in the printing of a new guidebook when the volume of new material warrants it. Until that time new crags, new routes and route variants and amendments to existing routes described in the current guidebooks can be found in the New Routes Database.
Details of guidebook production can be found in the guidebook section of this site.

Child Protection Policy

The Club has a Child Protection Policy.

Health and Safety Policy

The Club has a Health and Safety Policy and a Guide to implementing the policy.
