Newsletter
The Yorkshire Mountaineer is published 6 times a year and sent to members in February, April, June, August, October and December.
History
The earliest issues of the Newsletter were edited by Colin White, who was secretary from 1941 to 1950. In 1950 Ernest Shepherd took over as secretary, by which time the newsletter was appearing on a regular bi-monthly basis. In 1962 the jobs of Newsletter Editor and Secretary were split, Alan Austin taking over as Editor whilst Ernest Shepherd continued as Secretary. Early editions of the newsletter were typewritten and duplicated by various methods. In 1990 Steve Bostock, as editor at the time change the production method to a word processed and photocopied format. In 1993 Pete Ashworth introduced the 'Newsletter Writer of the Year' competition in an attempt to increase the quality and quantity of articles being submitted for inclusion in the Newsletter.
In 2009 Neville Hawkin changed the newsletter from an A4 photocopied and stapled format to an A5 printed booklet form. A colour version was also made availale to members on the club's website.
