Location: Copper Mines Valley, Coniston, Cumbria.
Grid Reference: SD 292985.
Purchased: 5th October 1972.
YMC Trustees: E. A. Shepherd; W. Todd; A. Swithenbank.
Accommodation: The Hut is of Lakeland stone construction and is part of a row of what were miners bunkhouses, situated overlooking the Coppermines Valley. The Hut is divided into two sections, one being for YMC Member's use at all times, the other section being for the use of other Clubs and Parties with a genuine interest in Mountaineering and similar outdoor pursuits. This section can also be used by YMC Members on Club Hut Meets and when not exclusively booked to another group.
After initial refurbishment work which was completed in 1976, the Member's section had 15 places and the main section 36, made up of two rooms of 24 and 12 places. Later refurbishments which included building an extension to the rear of the property, significantly reduced the number of bed spaces.
