Programme

The Club arranges a programme of climbing and walking meetings throughout the year.
Every other weekend there is either a Sunday venue or a full weekend meet.
On Wednesday evening the club meets at a local crag or (during the winter) a climbing wall.
The Club organizes various other events throughout the year. These include slide shows, an annual photography competition, barn dances, barbecues, a bonfire meet amd an annual dinner.

Newsletter

The Club publishes a bi-monthly newsletter containing details of forthcoming events, reports of Club business, Club news, articles of interest and Meet Reports. Articles for inclusion may be sent to the Editor by post - on paper or on disk - or by e-mail.
The Newsletter Writer of the Year Competition is held annually; a winning article and two runners-up are chosen from the past years published articles and reports.

Climbing Hut

The Club owns a property situated in the Coppermines Valley above the village of Coniston in the Lake District. The Hut is divided into two sections, one which can be used by other groups, the other is reserved for use by members of the Club. The accommodation offers a full range of excellent facilities.

Library

As one of its resources the YMC maintains a library, which includes guidebooks, maps, journal, periodicals and other literature related to the outdoors.

BMC Insurance

Membership of the YMC automatically conveys cover by BMC Third Party Liability Insurance, provided that Membership Fees are paid by 31st of January.

Those members who belong to more than one BMW Affiliated Club and as a consequence have paid more than once are eligible to claim a refund. A refund form can be found in the Members Area of this website.

Discounts

Discounts are available at many outdoor sports shops on production of a valid YMC Membership card. The Club also arranges ‘Buying Nights’ from time to time at climbing and walking equipment shops where greater discounts on purchases have been negotiated.

Guidebooks

The YMC produces two Guidebooks, which can be purchased by Full Members of the Club at a discounted price.
